Dragged into Turbolasers Episode 43: Warhammer Fest 2018, Adeptus Titanicus, Rogue Trader, Speed Freeks, and Sisters of Battle

The Age of Knowledge is Dead.

After a long hiatus, we are back to talk about the many announcements that occurred during Warhammer Fest 2018. We start by talking about the newly-released Adeptus Titanicus, and admire the upcoming warhound models. We then discuss the recently released Kill Teams game, and muse on what the upcoming Rogue Trader release means for the game. Next we talk about the upcoming redesigned Ork warbuggy model that will be released in the Speed Freeks boxed game. Finally, we wrap up the episode by analysing the 3D renders of many of the bolter designs for the redesigned Sisters of Battle.

  1. Excellent as always. Most of the things you mentioned in this episode I was entirely unaware were even being released so that is exciting. Looking forward to the plastic Warhound model as well as future Adepticus Titanicus posts from you all. Definitely a lot to be excited about.

  2. Good episode as usual, gentlemen.

I too am looking forward to the release of the Warhound more than anything else for some weird reason!

I agree with most of the other comments you have made though one always needs to remember that the "B Team" is doing the Specialist Games stuff.

I believe Darren Latham is doing the Sisters of Battle which is good though I agree with most of your criticisms about the weaponry. As usual I have extreme doubts about whether the new models will be improvements on the old. More likely they will be slightly worse than the metal models with the added "benefit" that you have to spend hours scraping off mould lines and putting them together before you can even start painting them--not my idea of fun though it's good for the kit-bashers I guess. The poses are never as good as one piece/pose models though (and I refer to a recent discussion you were involved in on instagram about that topic).

Titanicus is way too expensive even though the core set is a good deal. I won't be buying it but I will grab the rules and some titans at some point. If I could get it for the UK price I would but in Australia it's almost double the price after taking into account exchange rates so I'm not taking that sort of shit, frankly. Also the starter set really should have had reavers and warhounds in it so that people could get some actual games in straightaway. The product is good in this one but various decisions about the release leave you scratching your head. My personal belief, based on no evidence whatsoever, is that Imperator titan will be resin parts as an upgrade to the 40K Knight titan kit.

    1. I am also most excited about the warhound. I hear you about the price of titanicus. It would be wonderful if everyone just used the uk prices... While the starter box is somewhat of a deal, the lack of any warhounds or reavers is significant. As it stands, the game is basically just two warlords shooting at each other, which is not very exciting.

I am still hopeful for the sisters, but after seeing these bolters, I am worried. It seems very likely that many will have terrible poses, as that seems to be gw's mo. Time will tell I suppose...

    2. Agree... 2 warlords--boring! reaver vs reaver backed up by a few warhounds each would have given a good game and left the centrepiece models for non-discounted sales down the track, I would have thought.
