The Pilgrym: The Church of the Red Athenæum

Not willing to rest on their laurels from last years Invitational, the hobbyist/artists from Iron Sleet have embarked on what is likely the most ambitious hobby project ever concieved: building a section of the Shrine-world of Holy Terra, to be the setting of a massive Inquisimunda game played this summer. The Pilgrym. Iron Sleet is not attempting this project alone, and instead has gathered a small group of dedicated individuals, including luminaries like PDH, JRN, Jeff Vader, and none other than Thistle himself! And we are excited to announce that we are going to be taking part in the project as well!

A look back: Best Blogs of 2015

We have already discussed our favorite model releases and our work over the course of 2015, but my favorite part of each year is seeing what interesting miniatures that the community creates!  I spend more time than I should each day browsing the internet, looking for little converted soldiers.  If you are reading this blog, you likely do not need me to tell you about how fantastic this year has been for the hobby.  Instead, I will show you some of the blogs and models that stood out to us at Between the Bolter and Me!  This list is not an all-inclusive one, and is listed in no particular order.  Sorry in advance if we forgot to include anyone on this list, the wealth of fantastic models and modelers is too great to ever list in just one place!

Adeptus Mechanicus Electro-Priest Unboxing Video

As 2016 steadily advances, we at Between the Bolter and Me are continuing to experiment with ways that we can extend what we are doing here, such that we can reach a wider audience and continue to strengthen and build this hobbying/modeling community.  In addition to starting our podcast Dragged into Turbolasers, we are trying our hand at doing some unboxing videos.  We do not intend to unbox every Games Workshop release.  There are already tons of other excellent people who do that, but rather just look at certain kits that we find interesting and/or intend to use on a project for the blog here.

INQ28: Building a female Imperial Guard Trooper

The Emperor guides my hand.

Having just completed building Paige Levkau, a pilot hired by Inquisitor Anton Soljic, I decided that I wanted to continue to bolster his field agents.  I realized other than Levkau, I did not have any other female agents and decided to change that with the next conversion!

Between the Bolter and Me: 2015, a year in review

2015, our most productive year yet!

Somehow, it is January again. Another year has passed us by, and I find it hard to believe that Between the Bolter and Me is now three years old! I am happy to say that the third year was our most productive year yet. We converted all sorts of models, but most impressively, Adam even started to paint again (after an absence of more than five years)! But as 2016 begins, we wanted to take a little time to review our accomplishments last year.

Dragged into Turbolasers Episode 1: Expanding Between the Bolter and Me

Dragged into Turbolasers
is Between the Bolter and Me's official miniature wargaming podcast. We talk critically about all aspects of the miniature hobby, with a primary focus on Games Workshop games. Rather than conversing about rules and competitive play, our priority is to discuss the miniature side of the hobby: examining new model releases, exploring hobby techniques, and talking about our current projects on Between the Bolter and Me.
